What did I do wrong?

I made a Japanese knot purse today. I had some fabric left over from the apron I made for a apron swap and thought it would make a real cute summery purse. To my total disappointment once I had sewn in the lining and turned it right-side out something was wrong! I had downloaded the pattern from here and for some reason I guess I didn't understand the directions. Disappointment.
